Area Attractions

The University of Nebraska State Museum (Morrill Hall): Located on campus just 5 blocks from the Embassy Suites, and the Museum’s Research Collections facility (Nebraska Hall) is just 3 blocks more. Our opening reception will be held in the iconic Elephant Hall gallery of the Museum in the shadow of “Archie”, the star of our Museum’s logo!

The Haymarket District: Located 2 blocks west of the Hotel, it is the rejuvenated “old town” area of Lincoln and the new entertainment hub of the city. If you can’t find a cuisine or micro-brew there to call your favorite, you just aren’t trying! (The host committee will endure the arduous task of fully vetting every venue over the coming months and offer you our picks!) Art galleries and specialty shops round out the fare.

Sheldon Museum of ArtGreat Plains Art Museum, Nebraska History Museum, Lincoln Children’s Museum: All are within 5 blocks of the Embassy Suites Hotel.  Show your AMMP name badge to see if discounted entry rates are available.

State Capitol Building: Looking for some 1927 Art Deco masterpiece architecture, wall and ceiling murals, and floor mosaics?  Start your visit of the Nebraska State Capitol Building in the rotunda, where you'll be surrounded by a wonderful mosaic of prehistoric animals encircling Mother Nature's elements of water, fire, air and earth. Designed by Erwin H. Barbour, paleontologist and former director of the University of Nebraska State Museum, the mosaic is a unique depiction of the progression of life on earth and is a testimony to significance of paleontology to Nebraskans.

Transportation

By Air:

The Lincoln Airport (LNK) is located just 5 miles west of the host hotel. Embassy Suites provides free shuttle service for the short 10 minute ride to and from the airport. The Lincoln Airport is served by United and Delta airlines.

The Omaha Airport (OMA) has a greater selection of flights and airlines but is 55 miles from Lincoln. Omaha is also served by Southwest Airlines so don’t forget to check their web site for options as well if you plan to fly into Omaha.

As we all know, airline fares fluctuate considerably. Use your favorite booking site and set up fare alerts to take advantage of price reductions.

By Bus:

Lincoln is served by Trailways and Greyhound.  The Bus station is a taxi or Uber ride from the Embassy Suites.

By Train:

If you're considering a train ride, the Lincoln Amtrak station is four blocks west of the Embassy Suites in the Haymarket.  It doesn't get much more convenient than that.

Weather

For the week of April 24-28, Lincoln’s average high temperature is 67°F and the average low is 42°F, but weather on the Great Plains is notoriously unpredictable so plan accordingly. The record maximum temperature for that week is 97°F; the record minimum 24°F! A shower or two would not be unusual during the week. The average number of days per month of measurable precipitation for April is 11 days.
