Helps to select qualified candidates to fill required positions in the leadership of the organization.  Organizes and manages the call for candidate nominations. This important committee will aid in developing the future direction of the association through its leadership.


Education and advocacy to improve ethics, standards, and practices in paleontology

Elections Committee

1. Key Responsibilities

    a. Seek input from the Board on the needs for each election cycle.

     b. Establish a timeline for the election cycle and determine a voting platform that

          best fits the needs of the Association.

     c. Solicit nominations, vet candidates, and inform nominees of their placement on

          the ballot.

     d. Report the election results once they have been tabulated to the Board.


2. Expected time commitment

     a. Committee members will spend an average of 1-2 hours per month, with an

          increase up to 4 hours per month during the election season.

     b. The committee shall maintain a calendar of events associated with Annual

          Election of the Board.


3. Specific qualities/skills/attributes beneficial for membership in committee

     a. Committee members should be prepared for the time commitment associated

          with the annual election.

     b. Good communication, writing, and editing skills.


4. Available support for committee: funding, board support, existing materials

     a. Collaboration with Membership Secretary for up to date membership

          information.

     b. Collaboration with Board Treasurer for funding.


5. Accountability to the board

     a. The committee shall provide the Board regular updates not less than once per

          month on the status of annual election that will include timelines, costs, and

          nominations/results.
